ACT Interpreting is a performance-specific interpreting company operating out of Madison, Wisconsin.

We value the specialized skills required to effectively interpret in the entertainment field. Each member of our ASL team has their own niche when it comes to performance work. Their backgrounds ranges from working as a professional actor, majoring in music theater, years of performance interpreting experience, and being musicians themselves.

We actively collaborate with our local Deaf community members.

We integrate their expertise into the interpreting process and our operations in order to tailor our services to what our community needs.

ACT hires Deaf and Hard of Hearing Directors of Artistic Sign Language (DASLs) and Directors of Interpreters (DOIs), bringing a unique and essential perspective to our work. Our logo was designed by a local Deaf artist.

Part of our process for having a CDI (Certified Deaf Interpreter) on the team is creating captions to function as a teleprompter. This helps to make sure the team is following the pacing set by actors on stage.
